Obituary

Ms. Charles Ann Hall, in her 71st year,  "joined the Master's Choir in Heaven" on Saturday afternoon, July 10, 2021.

On July 3, 1950, three bundles of joy were delivered to Fred George and Thelma Arlene (Holmes) Holley. Charles Ann, Charles Edward and Charlene Elizabeth were born at Providence Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The nurses asked to name the triplets; they were named for the doctor and the two nurses involved in their delivery and care. Charles Ann was the oldest of the triplets and the seventh child born out of nine children.

Charles Ann accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized by the late Rev. Theodore Hickerson at St. Mark Baptist Church. She always enjoyed music and starting playing the piano at a young age. She had formal piano training under the tutelage of the late Soviet Wimbish and the late Lucille Holley Crutcher. Charles Ann was in Chorus and was a debutante as well during high school. In 1968, she graduated from Manual Training High School. She met and married Henry James Hall in July of 1970. To this union, they were blessed with two children-a son, KaRun Hall and daughter, LaKeisha Hall Walker. Later, this union was dissolved. She later attended Northeastern College and Bacone College where she received an Associate's Degree in Child Development.
Charles Ann held many titles in her professional and Christian life. She was a secretary for the late Dr. Robert Smith for over 20 years. She was Lead Teacher for Head Start for over twenty years. She was the 1st Cook Aide at the Nutrition Center with Shirley Maxey. She worked as a custodian at the Veteran's Building. She was the Director of Culinary Ministry, a member of the Pastor's Committee and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at St. Mark Baptist Church. She played the piano and keyboard and sang with The New Testament Choir under the direction of Eugene Brown. She taught in the Creek District Baptist Association Congress of Christian Education under the leadership of her late nephew, Rev. James L. Brewer and current pastor, Rev. L. B. Cutler. She was the District Musician under the Moderator of the late Rev. Bertrand M. Bailey and Rev. Anthony L. Scott. She sang with the gospel group, The Candlelights; started by the late Rev. Theodore Hickerson. She played her piano and keyboard for anyone who called her for help in the Muskogee and Tulsa area.
Charles Ann was a faithful member of St. Mark Baptist Church for over 58 years. She started playing the piano for St. Mark at the tender age of fourteen and continued to be the Minister of Music under the pastorage of Rev. L. B. Cutler.
Charles Ann was honored on April 17, 2009, for her service of over 50 years to St. Mark Baptist Church and her service to the community. The Mayor at that time, John Tyler Hammons named April 17th as "Charles Ann Hall Day."
There was never a dull moment in any interactions with Charles Ann, especially when she is with her partner, her best friend, her twin-Charlene Evans. Charles Ann never met anyone she didn't like. She always had a smile for everyone. She was never too busy to help anyone or offer her services if needed. One of her favorite scriptures comes from Psalms 121:2: "My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.
Charles Ann was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (Charles and George), and two sisters (Rosetta and Doris). She leaves behind to cherish her memory: four sisters-Josephine (Earl) Brackeen of Muskogee, Bettye McBride of Muskogee, Frankie Brewer of Edmond and Charlene (James) Evans of Muskogee; her son KaRun Hall and daughter LaKeisha (Terry "TJ") Walker; three grandchildren-Tyreik Walker, Keyara Lee and Sha'Rya Walker; and a host of cousins, nephews and nieces.
