Obituary

Life had it's humble beginnings for Charles William Lee, affectionately referred to as "C.W." on March 26, 1923 in Coal Hill, Arkansas. Born to Charles and Daisy Lee, "CW" was the youngest of nine children.


"CW" was nurtured, loved and grew, along with his siblings and received his formal schooling at Moton Public School in Taft, Oklahoma. He united with the Flipper Chapel AME Church as a child, where he remained a member until his death. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a member of he Masonic Lodge, as well as the American Legion Post #84.


He was united in Holy Matrimony with Blanch B. Jackson Lee, to which eight children were born. He later married Lavada "Nipsy" Lee and seven children blessed their household.


After "four-score and five" years, Charles William Lee left this life, for a life eternal from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, except one; both of his wives; four children, Charles Jr., Charles Etta, Raymond and Harlan Gregory, and Dwane Mayo; and three grandchildren, Donita, Maurice and Sonya.


He leaves to cherish his wonderful memory; five daughters, Essie McIntosh, Paulette Bowler [Don], Yolanda Wiggins, Beatrice Pierce and Etoyce Shipp, all of Taft, Oklahoma; five sons, Darryl Lee [Carolyn], Boynton, Oklahoma, Clifton Eric Lee [Kim] and Jonathan Lee, Taft, Oklahoma, Chauncy T. Lee, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Larry Mayo [Shirley], Muskogee, Oklahoma; a daughter-in-law, Juanelda Lee, Taft, Oklahoma; thirty-seven grandchildren/ sixty-one great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a caravan of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The final salute will be on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Taft Resource Center. Reverend Kevin Clayton, his Pastor at Flipper Chapel AME Church of Taft, will officiate.

Burial will follow with military honors in the National Cemetery at Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma at 1:00 P.M.
