Charlesetta Jackson began her journey on October 19, 1944 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the oldest girl born to Charlie and Charlene Jackson and was affectionately called "Sister" by her siblings.
She was a graduate of the acclaimed Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1962. She also attended technical school before beginning her career in customer service with Patton Furniture Company. She labored with the Patton's for Twenty-three years before she decided to move forward and continue her career in customer service for various businesses. She literally enjoyed and loved working and interacting with people on a daily basis.
Although she retired from Dillard's in 2001, she continued to work with people, volunteering her services at Neighbor for Neighbor. Charlesetta wanted to continue spending time with as many people as possible. Her work with this community-based organization gave her a daily opportunity to positively impact the lives of the people she met along the way.
She was a Christian and professed her love for Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age. She grew up in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church and held memberships at Shiloh Baptist Church and Friendship Baptist Church under the late Reverend L. L. Tisdale before moving her membership to Greater Grace Apostolic Temple, where she served faithfully, even in the midst of her illness until she reached the end of her journey.
Charlesetta's love for her family was expressed in many ways; encouraging everyone to strive for the best and being strong through "tough" situations. Her children and grand babies were her pride and joy. The family dinners will always be remembered for the famous "Lemon Pies" and the joy she had in providing a nourishing meal.
In her 61st season, Charlesetta Jackson surrendered her soul to Jesus on Sunday evening, November 20, 2005 from Saint Francis Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie, a sister, Peggy Lee and a son, Bobby, Sr.
She leaves in God's care; her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Kevin Stovall; four grandchildren, Adrian, Bobby Jr., Nikkia and Kameron; her mother, Charlene Jackson; a brother, Leon [Brenda] Jackson; her sisters, Bertha [Claude] Thomas, Mary [Ken] Walker, Cindy [Thomas] Green, and Alisha Jackson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Worship Service Celebrating her life will be held on Friday, November 25, 2005 @ 11:00 A.M. in the Greater Grace Apostolic Temple, 1010 East 56th Street North, Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Pastor, Dr. Donald O. Tyler, Sr., will officiate. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Memorial Gardens in Tulsa. You may visit Sister Jackson on Wednesday from 4 PM until 7 PM at the funeral home in Tulsa.
