IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christine
Thierry
February 28, 1963 – December 18, 2022
On February 28, 1963, our heavenly father blessed Mathew Thierry and Bestie Adell (Shephard) Thierry of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, with a beautiful baby girl, and they named her after her favorite aunt and gave her the name Christine Thierry. She was later given the nickname "Kitty."
Kitty was the rare flower that was picked from the garden December 18, 2022, at Creek Nation Hospital in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was a very family- and friend-oriented individual who met no strangers.
Growing up in Okmulgee, She attended Okmulgee High School where she received her diploma, graduating with the class of 1981. Earlier in her childhood Kitty was a rodeo queen for Wildcat Sportsman Club. Kitty then met Baron Penn, and they had two children who meant the world to her.
She was a homemaker and certified nurse/medical aide. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Church of God in Christ. Later she joined New Salem Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Wallace. She continued to attend services at New Salem, under the leadership of Reverend H. White while holding multiple positions within the church. Kitty was a faithful member. She served as the Sunday school teacher for the children, church secretary, was on the kitchen committee, and loved to usher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Adell Thierry.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her daughter, Crystal (Thierry) Smith and Calvin Smith of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her baby boy, Antonio Thierry; five brothers, Sgt. James Shepherd and wife Heidi of Killeen, Texas, Matthew Jr. and wife Doris of Kansas City, Missouri, and Mann, Donnell, and Tony Thierry of Okmulgee; three sisters, Belinda Thierry of Kansas City, Missouri, Arnita (Snoocum) McClendon of Chicago, Illinois, and Renee Thierry of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five granddaughters, NaCiyah, Aunastie, Cherish, Aubrey, and Caliyah; two godbrothers, Johnny Coleman and Mike Tuggle of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; her dearest best friends, Jackie Hall, Vanessa Manous, and Kelly Craig; and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and cousins. Kitty was a great supporter to her children, son-in-law, grandchildren, siblings, and friends.
She never said no to a family member in need. She often prayed and listened to gospel music. She had a final closing of her eyes; her soul drifted to a hopeful reunion with her mother and father, family, and friends, as she went to her final resting place.
The Hour of Remembrance for Christine will commence on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the Eleventh Hour in the most holy sanctuary of New Salem Baptist Church, where her Pastor Harold White will preside.
