Obituary
Mrs. Christine Augusta Whitaker, after 89 years, "moved into the Upper Room" on Monday, March 18, 2013 from Muskogee.
She was born Christine Augusta Miller on August 21, 1923 to Edward Miller and Edessie Doss in Muskogee. She attended Dunbar Elementary and Historic Manual Training High School. After graduation, she later met and married Marvin L. Whitaker. To this union, 7 children were born; Marcus, Richard, Henry, Rose, Barbara, Debra and Donald.
Christine worked for Service Cab Company in Muskogee as a dispatcher for many years. In her pastime, she enjoyed raising her grandchildren, cooking for them and playing BINGO.
Christine was preceded in death by her mother, Edessie Crawley, her father, Edward Miller, a brother Edward Miller, Jr., a sister, Betty Nash and a grandson, John Morris, Jr.
Mrs. Whitaker leaves to cherish her loving memory; her 7 children; and a caravan of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Her Homegoing Celebration will commence on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 2:30 PM in the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Dr. Marlon Coleman is the gracious host Pastor and Reverend Stephen Nash, Officiant.
Burial will follow the ceremony in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.
You may visit her as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 PM to 4 PM.
