Christopher Lee "Chris" Choice passed away on April 28, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on October 10, 1986, in Tulsa to Curtis L. Choice, Jr. and Evone Eure Choice, and was the eldest of their two children.
Raised in Tulsa, Chris attended Tulsa Public Schools and graduated from East Central High School, where he played on the football team. His athletic talents earned him a scholarship to Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, where he studied for a year. A passionate sports enthusiast, Chris especially loved football and basketball. As a youth, he played for the Tulsa Titan Basketball Team with his father as coach—a time they both cherished deeply. And although he lived in Oklahoma, he was a serious, diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. His love for the team dates to when his maternal grandmother gave him a pair of cowboy boots for Christmas that he seemingly wore everywhere.
Chris was very knowledgeable of both team and individual player statistics. His father always said, "He should have been a sports commentator." He was a competitive athlete and a true team player who enjoyed watching football and bantering with his mother, a staunch Kansas City Chiefs fan. Simply put, he was all about winning.
Somehow, Chris always found himself in a "situation." His family recalls when he relocated to San Antonio, Texas, in a spanking new Mitsubishi Galant his parents had purchased for him. When he returned to Tulsa the car was hardly recognizable as it was badly worn and beaten up. In fact, it looked as if it had been clamped together—they laughed a long time about that one.
Growing up, he shared an unbreakable bond with his sister, Breana. The siblings were inseparable, like two peas in a pod, and he cared deeply about her well-being and safety. Some people jokingly say he thought he was her daddy.
A mild-mannered young man, Chris was extremely quiet until he got to know you; and he was respectful to everyone he encountered.
He was employed as a logistics shipping receiver at Tulsa Winch Group, an operating company of the Dover Corporation. Known for his kind spirit and infectious smile, he left a lasting impression on his coworkers, and everyone who was blessed to know him.
Mr. Christopher Lee Choice, in his 38th year, passed from this life on Monday, April 28, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Chris is lovingly remembered by his parents, Curtis and Evone Choice; sister, Breana Choice; maternal grandmother, Addie Whitaker; great-aunt, Eva M. McGee; aunt, Dena (Kenneth) Bates; uncles: Terry (Theresa) Choice, Perry (Janie) Choice, Jeffrey Whitaker, Gary (Alberta) Whitaker, Matthew (Carolyn) Whitaker Jr., Michael (Carolyn) Eure; and trusted best friends, Jeremy Fair and Bradley "Buck" Jarrett. He also leaves behind many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Curtis, Sr. and Marlene Choice, and maternal grandfather, Matthew Ellis Whitaker, Sr.
Rest in peace, Chris. Gone but not forgotten.
