Obituary

On January 2, 1972, a child was born to C.J. and Bernice Johnson. They named him Christopher Jerome Johnson. Christopher was the oldest of
three children born to this loving union.

Christopher's faith in Jesus began at Faith Mission COGIC, when he was just a baby.

Christopher attended the historic schools Dubois of Summit, OK, and later attended Carter G. Woodson of Tullahassee, OK, where he would thrive as a student and dominate as an athlete. Christopher's domination was so strong, it landed him in the "Who's Who of Basketball Players" in 1990.
Which also landed him in every library in America. Christopher later on furthered his education at Connors State College in Muskogee, OK.

Chris took on various labor-intensive jobs throughout his illustrious life, working harder than anyone else. If you knew "Chris J," you loved "Chris J." Chris was a fighter for people who may not want to fight for themselves. If you had a problem, he had a problem. Chris was there for you to help fix it! Chris' excitement for life was unmatched. Every time he greeted you, it was with the largest smile and the firmest hug. That smile could light up your city; Muskogee can vouch for this. Chris befriended everyone, and he made a struggle seem so easy. His heart was bigger than his attitude, and that's saying a lot. It didn't matter what Chris had, if you needed it, and he had it, it was yours. Chris would not quit on you and not leave you stranded without help. He understood people in a very different way. Chris would cry with you, laugh with you, encourage you, and cuss you out, all at the same time. Chris believed with all of his heart, no matter what it looked like, that things would get better. His faith was true.
Chris' personality made everyone know he was in the room. His voice will never be forgotten. Chris may not have done everything that everyone would have liked him to, but one thing is for sure, he did it his way!

This loving Son, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin, Nephew, Friend, Brother-in-Law, and "Big Brother" entered into Glory on March 5, 2023. He
was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Johnson.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories; his daughters, Chancy (Missy) and Tyra (Cynthia), both of Muskogee, OK; sons, Dominique (Sonya) of
Muskogee, OK, and Christopher Jr. (Ursula) of Tulsa, OK; father, C.J. Johnson of Muskogee, OK; two brothers, Chadon Johnson, Sr., (Monica) and Chantwan Johnson, Sr., (Nina); one niece, Chadayia Johnson "Niecy;" two nephews, Chadon Johnson, Jr., "Big Man on Campus," and Chantwan Johnson, Jr., "Uncle Nephew;" nine grandchildren; Beloved Sister-Cousins along with a host of other cousins and many, many friends.
