Clara Jean King was born on September 8, 1955. She was the eighth child of loving parents Roosevelt Lewis & Mattie Lee Hackett, in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. She later moved to Idabel, OK with her mother and siblings, where she attended BTW first thru seventh grade. Clara graduated from Idabel Gray High School and received her Bachelors of Arts degree from Langston University. After college, Clara married the late Reginald King. Thru this union they were blessed with 2 children, Kara and Reginald. Clara later had the opportunity to be the greatest grandmother in the world to Faith Victoria.
Clara was employed at K-Mart Corporation for 25 years, retiring to pursue her purpose of helping others and enjoying her family. She loved sharing the word of God. She committed her life to the Lord at an early age attending First Baptist Church-North Tulsa and then Liberty Baptist Church. Later, Clara became a faithful and dedicated member of Vision Outreach Center, World Overcomers Bible Study, as well as Waldo & Jean Jones Ministry where she attended every Tuesday and Thursday night, learning to grow her faith in God.
Clara never missed an opportunity to enjoy her family. At any gathering you'd be sure to find her "green bean casserole". Thru Christmas 2014, her famously-delicious apple cake held 1st place, in the annual holiday family bake-off! Her smile would radiate any room, she was always willing to share her input and views on the matter, and she was known to set an atmosphere full of joy and laughter.
Clara never gave up hope that through her faith she would inherit the promises of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. On the morning of April 8, 2015, she exited her earthly body to be present with the Lord.
So let family and friends be comforted to know she would say "It is well with my Soul, I have lived to live again." Cherished memories of her are left with her children Kara and Reginald (Katie), Tulsa OK; her granddaughter Faith, her brother Ed (Charlene) Hackett, Homer LA; Elnora (William) Works, Marlton NJ; Mary Jones, San Diego CA; her extended family; best and longtime friends Phyllis & Darrel Williams of Oklahoma City, OK; Dana Holland Tulsa, OK; a host of nieces, nephews, and her church families at Vision Outreach Center & World Overcomers Ministry.
Lest we forget, "…I ask and I keep on asking and I receive, I seek and I keep on seeking and I find, I knock and keep on knocking and the door was opened unto me. Cherish every moment, Love every moment, Embrace every possibility.
Memorial services for Ms. Clara King will be Wednesday April 15, 2015 at 1PM inside Biglow's All Faiths Chapel in Tulsa.
