Obituary

On February 22, 1939, a baby boy was born from the union of Matthew and Mary Jane [Snell] Turner, Sr., in Boley, Oklahoma.   They named him Clarence Jay Turner.

Better known as "C.J." to all who knew him,  Mr. Turner was a lifelong resident of Boley, Oklahoma, where he grew up and attended school.  C.J. served his country honorably in the United States Army from January 30, 1962 until his discharge on January 29, 1964.

During his lifetime, he worked at the Boley State Training School and later, worked for 30+ years for the State of Oklahoma Highway Department.  After his retirement, he operated a lawn service and took pride in any small job that he performed.

Mr. Turner was a faithful member of Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church in Boley, where he served as a Deacon and Trustee of the Church.  C.J. was a good family man, devoted to taking care of his wife and family and helping where needed.  He was also a "Cowboy," where he rode Horses in the rodeo.  He also loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed living in the country.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

On Thursday, February 1, 2018, after 78 years of life, Clarence Jay Turner, Sr., surrendered his soul to Jesus from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He was preceded in death by his parents,  his son, Brandon Phillip Turner,  his sisters, Tina Turner, Willie Mae Dubose and Dezzie Bea Hampton, and his brothers, Albert David Turner, Elijah Turner and Matthew Turner, Jr.

He leaves in God's care:  his loving wife, Addie Mae Turner, of the home in Boley, Oklahoma;  his son, Clarence J. Turner, Jr., Shawnee, Oklahoma;  his daughters, Ethel Mae Turner, Arkansas and Dana Faye Turner, Boley, Oklahoma;  three sisters, Annie Mae Hall, Emma Lou Turner and Ida Belle Turner;  7 grandchildren;  3 great-grandchildren; and a caravan of other relatives and friends.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

The final hour with "C.J." will commence on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Amos Temple C.M.E. Church in Boley, Oklahoma.   Reverend Elmer LuGrand will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Cemetery in Boley.
