IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clarence Linn
Davis
February 26, 1962 – April 19, 2019
Clarence Linn Davis, son of Clifford Ray and Arnetta Eagle Davis, was born February 26, 1962 in the Warrior Community west of Checotah, Oklahoma. He attended Checotah Public Schools and later enrolled in the Checotah Literacy Program where he refined his academic and creative art skills. His connection with the Lord was made early in life when he united with Mt. Olive Star Baptist Church, baptized by Pastor Prince Maxwell, Sr.
Clarence was friendly and hospitable. He wanted to be a part of whatever was going on wherever he was. He loved his family and always expressed concern about their welfare. He enjoyed his pet dogs and even the strays that wandered to his home. He treated them royally. He had several interests and developed skills as a technician, artist, cook, and designer. He was well known for his coffee, fried potatoes, and fried chicken. He could take electronic devices apart and put them back together with all ease. He had a collection of impressive videos, still life drawings, and creative building designs that were his own creations. He loved his car(s), his television programs, and his music.
Clarence was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Star for many years, but considered himself a part of the universal church family. He made himself at home in many church congregations throughout the area. Most recently he united with the St Mark Baptist Church of Muskogee, Oklahoma under the leadership of Rev. Rodger Cutler. He was also a regular attendee at Checotah United Methodist Church Sunday School. He loved going to church and welcomed an opportunity to sing during the services. He was a frequent visitor at most of the churches in the area, often appearing at two or more different congregations in one day. He was determined to be in church somewhere on any given Sunday.
Clarence passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2019 in Tulsa, Oklahoma surrounded by family. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Clifford Ray and Arnetta Davis; 3 brothers—Eli Davis, Dwight Burkhalter, and Clifford Davis, Jr.; grandparents Iserene Smith, Lonteen Jimerson, and Dora Warrior; and numerous other relatives.
He leaves to cherish his memory 4 brothers: Joseph Davis,Sr., Alvin Davis Sr, Randy (Dorthy) Davis, and Garard Davis; 6 sisters: Charlszetta Burkhalter (Rufus) Lyons, Mary Ann Davis Reed, Sandra Gail Davis (Preston) Norwood, Vivian Braggs, Augustine Davis Minor, and Shelia Davis; 1 sister-in-law: Charlene Leake Davis; 3 aunts: Mary Gail Polk, Jacqueline Marie Warrior, and Dianne Sharon Vone Smith; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
