Mr. Clarence D. Hershey, age 82 and a resident of Muskogee, transitioned from life to everlasting on Tuesday night, February 17, 2009 from a local care facility.

Clarence Daniel Hershey, Sr., after "Fourscore & Two Years," transitioned "Beyond Life's Gateway" on Tuesday evening, February 17, 2009 from Muskogee.


Born in Muskogee on June 8, 1926 from the parentage of Fred and Myra [Markham] Hershey, Clarence grew up here and attended Muskogee Public Schools.


He met Adelaide Schrimsher, and after falling in love, married her on August 24, 1953 and their loved was blessed with 4 children.


Mr. Hershey served his country Honorably in the U. S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He provided for his family through his employ with the City of Muskogee in the Sanitation Departmentfor 28 years.


Mr. Hershey was active in his church, serving as a Deacon, Elder, Janitor and Treasurer before his health began to fail. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Birdie McNamee.


Those that remain to lament; his devoted wife of 55 years, Adelaide, of the home; 3 sons, Clarence Hershey, Jr. [Marilyn], Lancaster, TX, Joseph Hershey [Doris], Hanau, Germany and Richard Hershey, O'fallion, IL; a daughter, Elaine Chaney [Rev. Nathaniel], Lancaster, TX; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildrne; 4 sisters, Maymie Williams, Yakima, WA, FreddieMcNamee, Vian, OK, Ethyl Davis, Muskogee, and Edna Mae Lee, Wichita, KS; 2 brothers, Freeman Hershey, and James Hershey [Rachel], all of Seattle, WA; 4 sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Final Salute will be on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the Berean Seventh Day Adventist Church, 622 West Southside Boulevard in Muskogee.

Burial will follow with Military Honors in the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery at 1:00 P.M.
