Clarence Sidney "Jazz" Johnson was born on August 13th, 1941 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Moses and Maggie (Reagor) Johnson. He went home to be with the Lord on September 15th, 2015. Clarence attended Banneker Elementary School and Dunbar. He also served in the Army National Guard from 1962-1965. He moved to Kansas City, Kansas working as a miner at Sugan & Galama Sheet Metal Company. He soon relocated back to his stomping grounds in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
His passion was hunting, fishing and traveling. Jazz devoted most of his time and energy caring for his dogs Debo, Jasmine, Peaches and Peanut. They brought him so much joy and love. He enjoyed waking up every morning to coffee with his buddies reminiscing about the past. He also enjoyed sitting outside on the porch with family and friends telling his old childhood stories. He was also a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Jazz was loved by so many and will be missed immensely by all the lives he's touched over the years. He had a very kind heart and would do anything to help anyone.
On September 15, 2015, Clarence "Jazz" Johnson left this life for a life eternal. He is preceded in death by parents Moses and Maggie (Reagor) Johnson, Earlene McKnight (Half-sister), Barbara Brown (Sister), Marion Johnson (Brother), Donald Brown and Marvin (Red) White (Nephews) Michelle Johnson Wyatt-Starr (Niece), and Lonell "Scatt Man" Franks (Great Nephew). Clarence is survived by Eugene M. Johnson (Brother), Ruth Johnson White (Sister), two daughters: Laronda Steen and Brandy Frazier Sons: Thomas and Eric Smith, eight grandchildren: David, Jasmine, Christian, Taylor, Kadence, Kelsey, Isaiah, and Isabel. He had a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Final Hour with "Jazz" will commence on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in the most Holy sanctuary of the Eastside Baptist Church, 3rd & Osage Avenue in Okmulgee. Reverend Marcus Jeffrey, Senior Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
