Mr. Clarence Underwood, after 55 seasons, closed his eyes on this side on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 from Oklahoma City.
Clarence was born in Boynton, Oklahoma on July 30, 1951, the son of Willie and Annabelle [Vealy] Underwood. Better known by family and friends as "C.J.", he attended school in Yahola, Taft and Haskell before graduating from Moton High School in Taft. While at Taft, he began to learn welding and plumbing. He was obviously "mechanically inclined."
While growing up in Taft, he met a young schoolgirl, who became his sweetheart, Georgetta Sims. He pursued her and they fell in love with each other. He dated her for 4 years and their loved progressed to a marriage that has lasted for 33 years. They were married on February 23, 1973.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his devoted wife, Georgetta, of the home in Muskogee; his daughter, Latricia Underwood, Tulsa, Oklahoma; his brothers, James and Loretta Barnett and Willie Tate, Sr., all of Muskogee, Leonard "Blue" Underwood, Haskell, Oklahoma, Raymond Underwood, San Jose, California, Tracey and Tamara Underwood, Muskogee, and Fred and Florrie Underwood, Nevada, Texas; his sisters, Willie Mae Underwood and Melva Joe Underwood, both of Muskogee; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends.
The farewell will be on Saturday, January 6, 2006 at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow in Doyle Cemetery at Yahola, Oklahoma.
You may visit "C.J." as he slumbers at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., in Muskogee on Friday from 12 Noon until 6 PM.
