Maude Claudette (Durant) Petties was born on March 6, 1959 in Brooklyn, New York to Dolores (Wright-Durant) Vick and Harmon Durant Jr. She passed from this life on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Kindred Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 57. Claudette moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma in November of 1971 with her mother and step father Earl Vick. Claudette attended school in Stillwater, OK and graduated from C. E. Donart High School in 1977. She also attended Langston University where she was in the LU Marching Pride Band as a Flag Twirler and a member of the Alpha Angel Auxiliary Group.
Claudette was employed at Heart Stone and Stillwater Nursing Home in Stillwater, OK as Housekeeping supervisor and later promoted to Administrative Assistant where she remained until she retired on disability.
Claudette joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in 1973 and remained a very active member until she began to experience ill health. She served as a deaconess, President of the Gospel Choir, Church Clerk, Vacation Bible School Arts/Craft Teacher, Hospitality Team and a member of the Joyous Horizon singing group. Claudette was very creative and love making things look good and had a special gift, which showed when she would decorate the church for special programs. Claudette had a special love for family, children and music. She was a gifted singer and loved to praise her Lord.
Claudette was preceded in death by her parents.
Claudette leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Ronnie, 3 children, Antania (Danny) Thornton, Middleton, NC, Anthony (Jessica) Knights and Jesse (Chelsea) Keel, Stillwater, OK; 1 sister; Portia Durant, Brooklyn, NY and 1 brother; Carl (Christi) Vick, Duke, OK; step children, Ronnie (Gayle) Petties, Dallas, TX, Ken Petties, Riverside, CA, Trell Petties-Thompson, Cushing, OK, Eugene Petties, Los Angeles, CA, Kimberly Petties, Norman, OK, Ronika Petties, Los Angeles, CA, Michelle Bryant, Dallas, TX and Simone Waters, Stillwater, OK; 11 Grand Children, a nephew, and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Claudette Petties Services will be held on Saturday May 21, 2016 at 1pm at Mount Zion Baptist Church located at 902 S. Knoblock St. Stillwater, OK 74074

Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardnes in Stillwater.

Floral Arrangements may be delivered to the church at 11AM.
