Obituary

Mr. Cleophus Nutter, a resident of Rentiesville, Oklahoma, passed from life to eternal on Wednesday night, September 17, 2008 from Hutchison, Kansas.

He was born in Checotah, OK on November 7, 1921, the son of John E. and Beulah M. Nutter. He was the youngest of 16 children.

Cleofus was a very young boy when his parents passed away and was raised by an older sister, Ilena Vann. He attended school in Rentiesville, OK and served his country honorably in the US Army.

During his lifetime, "Pat", as he was affectionately referred to, lived in Muskogee, Oklahoma City, Wichita Falls, TX as well as Hutchinson, Kansas. He was employed for 30 years at the City Glass, which was also known as Wichita Falls Glass and Mirror Co.

He returned to Checotah in 1990 to assist his sister, Ilena in the care of her ill husband.

Cleofus was the last survivor of his generation of the Nutter family. For the information benefit and knowledge for the many nieces, nephews and other relatives, listed are "Pat's" siblings; Galen, Leland, Pearl, Goethe, Boisen, Ilena, Exaba, Annie C., Austin, India, Gussie, Perman, Ozzie, Posie and Mattye. The only surviving children of the siblings listed are Pearl's daughter, Ilena Simpson and India Irvings children, Beulah, Mattie, Henry, Truman, Exaba, Willa D., Napoleon, Helen, Bismark and Billy.

The farewell tribute, Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Remembrance of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., with burial in Honey Springs Cemetery at Rentiesville, Oklahoma. His niece, Reverend Michelle K. T. Moulden, Officiant.
