Obituary

Clevester "Cooter" Michael (Moham) was born June 12, 1930, in Warner, Oklahoma, to Robert and Nettie Moham. She was the third of eight children. Both parents, two brothers, and one sister preceded her in death.

Coming from a family who loves God, Clevester accepted Christ at an early age at First Baptist Church, Oktaha, She was well versed in scriptures and truly loved the word of God.

Clevester received her elementary education at Friendship Elementary School in Oktaha, Oklahoma. Her secondary education was obtained at Dubois High School in Summit, Oklahoma. Following graduation, she moved to Tulsa to start her career. She later moved to Chicago, Illinois where she met the love of her life, William Patrick Michael. Clevester and William wed in 1970 on her birthday (June 12th). When asked about their time together her voice would soften as she reminisced, "I loved me some Michael! I loved my baby! I was spoiled rotten by that man!"

While in Chicago, Clevester worked at Sears Tower for many years in various capacities including as a cosmetics' representative and as a secretary. Shortly after retiring, Clevester moved to Gary, Indiana. She joined the First Church of God in 1987 under the leadership of Rev. Harold Harrison, which was shepherded by Rev. Dr. Robert McClure, Jr at the time she left the church. While at First Church of God, Clevester served in various church ministries including the kitchen bereavement committee and the usher board. She also served as a Sunday school teacher. Additionally, Clevester was an active member of the Christian Women Connection for Women's Day. She was very proud of being the top seller for their luncheon tickets. Clevester was a mother figure for many young women in the church and was often heard referring to them as her daughters. Clevester loved her church family and was a devoted member until her health began to fail.

Clevester loved working in her flower garden and making homemade ice cream and peach cobbler. She liked taking long walks. She enjoyed shopping and was active in her senior citizen group. Clevester loved talking about her family; especially, sharing stories about her childhood. She was dedicated to her father when he lived with her.

On July 10, 2015, the Lord, determining Clevester had fought the good fight, extended His hand to welcome her into Heaven's eternal place.

Living with many cherished memories are her two brothers, Robert Moham, Jr. (JoWanda) of Oktaha, OK; John Moham, Sr. (Louvenia) of Oklahoma City, OK; her two sisters, Dorthy Graves of Los Angeles, CA; and Verna Moham of Gary, IN; one aunt, Alberta Harris of Oklahoma City, OK; two very special friends Kathy Smith and Dan Latham of Gary, IN; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Sacred Farewell will be shared on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. in the First Baptist Church of Summit. Reverend Charles N. Moore, Senior Pastor, will Preside.

Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.

You may visit Ms. Michael, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
