Obituary

Mr. Clifford Pouncil, age 42 and a resident of Muskogee, traded his Cross for a Crown on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 from Muskogee.

A faithful husband, father, brother, son and friend, this kind and gentle friend will be missed by all who knew him.

Clifford was the youngest of nine children, born on April 2, 1965 in Muskogee to Clifford and Ruby Bell [Curns] Pouncil, Sr.

He was educated in the Muskogee Public School System, graduating from Muskogee High School with the Class of 1983. While in high school, Clifford was a member of the "Pride of Muskogee" marching band, where he played the trumpet and also served as assistant drum major. One of his proudest moments was when he played the trumpet as "Louie Armstrong" in the high school play "Hello Dolly."

Affectionately referred to as "Butch" by family and friends, Cliff accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Tommy McFrazier at Macedonia Baptist Church. He was currently a member of Greater Rayfield Baptist Church, under the pastoral guidance of Rev. Leroy Walker, Sr.

He attended Northeastern State Univesity and was currently completing his Bachelor's Degree at St. Gregory University in Tulsa. He was also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.

Mr. Pouncil was employed as a Claims Representative for 19 years at State Farm Insurance Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mitchell Ray Pouncil of Kansas City, Kansas.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his devoted wife, Tracye; a daughter, Brooke; his sons, Blake, Ty and Clifford Trent, all of the home in Muskogee; his brothers, Edmond Pouncil [Arthetta], Tulsa,Oklahoma, Rev. Larry Pouncil [Alice], Checotah, Oklahoma, Raymond Champ Pouncil [Patti], Drumright, Oklahoma, Jerry Pouncil [Margaret], Independence, Kansas; his sisters, Carolyn Hall [Bobby], Muskogee, Juanita Butler, Houston, Texas, Brenda Pouncil, Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law, Maxine Pouncil, Kansas City; a special cousin like a brother, John Hubanks [Fannie], Dallas, Texas; his father-in-law, Pete Rowland; his mother-in-law, Rose Rowland; "Big Momma" Alto Rowland, all of Muskogee; along with a caravan of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-wokers.

The Tribute will be on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Greater Rayfield Baptist Church. His Pastor, Rev. Leroy Walker, Sr., will officiate. The Christian committal will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery.
