IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clifton Lewis
Johnson
May 4, 1966 – April 17, 2023
On May 4, 1966, in the town of Earle, Arkansas, a baby boy was born to Emma Smith and WH Johnson. They named the child Clifton Lewis Johnson, and he was the first of six children. Clifton, who was affectionately known as "Cliff," attended Earle COGIC and Summit Prayer House of Deliverance, among many other churches of worship.
At an early age, Cliff was diagnosed with a form of arthritis that prevented his bones from growing normally, which left him defined by others as disabled; Cliff never let that word define him. Cliff was home- taught and didn't attend the regular schools that his siblings would later enroll in, but played an integral part in all his siblings' lives. Cliff's parents moved to Oklahoma in 1980, to the small town of Summit. Cliff was very involved in helping his siblings with everything, from waking them up in the morning (which they all strongly disliked), helping them get dressed, to doing more than his fair share of chores around the house. Cliff never let anything stop him from being a regular guy. Everyone that encountered Cliff loved him.
Cliff would later move to Muskogee, Oklahoma, with his family in 1987. Cliff started working at INCOR, Inc. in Muskogee, Oklahoma, in 1990, where he met his special friend, Lanetta Scroggins. He would work at INCOR until the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. Cliff would later come to stay with his sister, Pamela Walters, and her three sons; they would share a bond like no other.
Cliff was loved by his younger nieces and nephews, as he touched all their lives. Cliff loved participating in the Oklahoma Special Olympic events, where he was awarded many medals that he proudly displayed. The Scroggins family was very special to him, as he spent many weekends there with his special friend and family, especially Brian, who was like a brother to him.
Cliff was preceded in death by his grandmother, Virgil L. Johnson; grandfather, William H. Johnson, Sr.; father, William H. Johnson; grandmother, Noxie Mae Ford; brother, Henry L. Morton; and niece, Brook Eskridge.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories: his mother, Mrs Emma L. Smith; father, Alvin Smith; brothers, Henry L. Morton (deceased), Pete H. Morton of Sanford, NC, Tony D. Morton (Slyvia) of Sanford, NC, Blishan Ben Israel (Eric) of Conway, AR, and William H. Johnson of McGehee, AR; sisters, Cynthia Wiseman (Ron) of MS, Vera J. Morton (Claude) of Sanford, NC, and baby sister, Pamela V. Walters of Muskogee, OK; stepmom, Ms. Emma L. Johnson of McGehee, AR; seven nieces; thirteen nephews; four grandnieces; seven grandnephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends.
