Clifton Ventrous Stewart arrived on earth on February 3, 1934 in Muskogee, from the loving union of Sylvester Napoleon Steward and Viola Lee Stewart. He was the second of three son's born into this family.

Clifton attended Muskogee Public Schools at Langston Elementary and Manual Training High School. He was baptized at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church under Reverend Davis.

After reaching adulthood, he moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he gained employment at Ford Motor Company as a fork lift operator. There, he met and later married his wife, Dorothy Louise Gatewood. From this union, three sons were born. Mr. Stewart also helped to raise two step-sons and a step-daughter. Later in life, he fathered two other children in Detroit.

After leaving Detroit and returning to Muskogee, Mr. Stewart became self-employed in his scrapping business. He wanted nothing more that to be able to continue his business, which he enjoyed. You could always find him working with his welding torch, regardless of the weather.
