Obituary
Ms. Cora Lou Mackey, after "three-score" years, dozed into the tranquil peace of eternal slumber from her home in Muskogee.
Cora was born on March 24, 1952 in Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of Jess Lee and Rosa Mae [Corbell] Shrum.
Cora grew up in Porum, where she attended Ross School and Porum High School. She then attended Connors State College and began her career as a L. P. N.
She later spent time during her life in New Jersey and also Missouri before returning to live in Muskogee. Cora was a collector of unique items, an avid reader and loved watching soap opera's, including her favorite, "All My Children".
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her sons, George A. Mackey, IV, McAlester, Oklahoma and Justin Mackey [Hope], Tulsa, Oklahoma; her brothers, Donald Shrum [Lois], Warner, Oklahoma, Joe Shrum [Delores], Antlers, Oklahoma, and Jess Shrum, Jr. [Elizabeth], Sacramento, California; a sister, June Penwell, Muskogee, Oklahoma; an Uncle, Alvie Corbell; six grandchildren; twin great-grandchildren on the way; and other relatives and friends.
A Graveside ceremony will be on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Fields Cemetery at Porum, Oklahoma.
You may visit Ms. Mackey, as she slumbers at the funeral home on Monday from 12 Noon until 6:00 P.M.
