" A Championship Wrestling Season......."

Every wrestling season begins with training during the offseason. Without the vigorous exercise and dedication to fundamentals involved during training, no victory nor championship can be achieved.

Training camp opened on May 24, 2007, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, with the arrival of  a healthy baby boy born to Christy Brown and fathered by David Berry. He was named Coriyon DaLynn Brown.

As the regular season started, Cori was seen as a character at such a young age, he was sure to get a laugh out of any and everyone. He never met a stranger.

At the impressionable age of 5, Cori started playing football and wrestling which he did not take lightly. His ambition and determination to win was unmatched. He was definitely a BEAST!

A Beast is defined as Someone who is particularly impressive, especially athletically or physically. Cori was able to face his fears, while being courageous in his pursuit to strive for excellence in his athleticism.

The playoffs approached, and it was apparent that the possible champion was in full pursuit of his achievements. Cori attended Central Missionary Baptist Church where he was baptized. Cori traveled all over for wrestling. He traveled to Reno, Nevada where he won 1st place in Division III at 67 lbs. Cori eventually went on to take state for 4 years in a row, taking the national title in the Tulsa National Wrestling Finals. Cori was on numerous dual teams coached by Shane Roller. Cori was a huge fan of the OSU Wrestling Team and desired to attend Penn State for wrestling.

The Championship Game was quite the battle and came down to the final wrestling match. On Championship Thursday, the referee stopped the match and signaled a flagrant misconduct violation on the play. The officials, who just happened to be Angels, huddled to discuss the violation. After further review, the Head Official, Jesus, made the final ruling. The play involving the personal foul, allowed Coriyon DaLynn Brown, to gain that elusive championship. Cori received a full scholarship to "The University of Paradise", located just inside the Golden Gates of Heaven.

Coriyon "Cori" DaLynn Brown, in his 16th year, left us on Thursday morning, September 7, 2023.

His team he leaves on the mat and in the stands celebrating "Victory;" his devoted parents, Christy Brown Berry and David Berry of the home in Muskogee, Oklahoma; his sister, DaShauri Brown; his brothers, Jarin Brown and Ronald Warren;  his grandparents, Fontella Brown, Anita Berry and Melvin Parker; his church family, fellow wrestling teammates and coaches, other relatives and a caravan of friends who will cherish his memory.
