Curtis was born February 5, 1945, in Muskogee, OK to the late Ernest and Beulah Wardlow. He was the fourth of eight children.

He was a fun-loving child and kept the family entertained on a regular basis with his humorous and sometimes mischievous antics. He had a knack for  storytelling and could be quite convincing. He would often trick his younger siblings into doing his chores.

As a child, he united with and was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church. In his later years, he reunited with New Jerusalem Baptist Church. He was a committed member until his death, and sang with the Brotherhood Choir.

Curtis, fondly called Curt by family and friends, attended and graduated with the Class of 1963 from Manual Training High School. He played football for the MTHS Bulldogs. He also especially enjoyed the Barbering Class which was part of the Vo-Tech facet of MTHS. He became quite proficient in barbering and for many years, he cut hair as a 'side' profession. He received his B. S. degree from Northeastern State University. He also served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper. Prior to his retirement, he was a line supervisor at Whitlock Packaging Corporation for many years.

Curt met the love of his life, Joyce Marie Mackey, in high school, and they later married and gave birth to one child, Camille Letriece. Camille and his two granddaughters, Kennedy and Queen Christina, were his three heartbeats. He cherished his trips to California to visit them, as well as his son in law, Christopher, with whom he enjoyed a very special and close relationship.

Curt had many friends and was known for his commitment and loyalty to them. In high school, they formed a group called "The Boyzs" and until the day he passed, they remained friends and he talked to some of them weekly. They are: Verdell Schoats, Gary Royal, Charles "Butch" Constantine, Gus Embry, Harry "Lump" Robinson (deceased), Pete Burr (deceased), Rudolph "Zeb" Bridges (deceased), Earnest "Big O" Robinson (deceased), and Ellis "Roughhouse" Cesar (deceased). Another very special friend was Donald "Worm" Jones (deceased). He had many other friends, too numerous to list. Friendships were meaningful to him, and once a friend you were a friend for life.

Curtis Leon Wardlow peacefully transitioned from earth to glory, while asleep at his home, on January 18, 2022.

He was preceded in death by: his mother and father, Ernest and Beulah Wardlow; brothers, Earnest, Marvin, and Dolvin Wardlow; first cousin, Otis Baines, whom his mother raised; and all of his aunts and uncles.

He leaves to cherish and honor his memory: his wife, Joyce Marie Wardlow of Muskogee; daughter, Camille Letriece (Christopher) Curtis; two granddaughters, Kennedy and Queen Christiina Curtis, all of North Hollywood, CA; two sisters, Doris Foster of Albuquerque, NM, and Debra (Charles) Coleman of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Donald (Mary) Wardlow of Muskogee and Ronald (Clara) Wardlow of Tampa, FL; first cousin, Ola Still, whom his mother raised, of Inglewood, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins, and special friends.

The Final Salute to Mr. Wardlow will commence on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the most holy sanctuary of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Muskogee. Pastor Roscoe Beasley, Sr., will give the Eulogy.
