Obituary

On January 7, 1931, in Porter, Oklahoma, a beautiful, baby girl was born to David and Sedelia Spencer, who named her Daisy Mae.  She grew up in Porter and attended school at Clearview, near a town that was known as Gar Creek.
Later, she met and eventually married Booker T. Maxwell, Sr., and from this union, twelve children were born.  This marriage was dissolved and later in life, she met Marion Gene Cherry and they were married.  They remained married until his passing in 1985.
Daisy was a loving and faithful member of the loving Mount Calvary Baptist Church until her health began to fail her.  She was a homemaker, gardener and family oriented woman, who everyone affectionately referred to as "Granny."
In her past time, Granny enjoyed cooking, listening to music, playing cards and playing board games with her family and close friends.  She especially enjoyed playing Trouble with her great-grandchildren.
On February 16, 2019, surrounded by her loving family, Daisy Mae Cherry, after 88 years, "took flight with Angels to Heaven" from her home in Muskogee.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Gene Cherry, both of her parents, David and Sedalia Spencer, two sisters, Emma Ford and Othene Thomas, her brothers, Alonzo, John and Archiel Spencer, her daughter, Doris "Cookie" Adams and a grandchild, John Adams, Jr.
Those left to carry her legacy;  her sons, Booker, Donald, Eugene  [Debra] and Edward, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and James of Fort Smith, Arkansas;  her daughters, Lois, Joyce [Glenn], Marie, Lachella [William] and Mary, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Christine [Larry], Midwest City, Oklahoma;  three brothers, Ted, Augusta, Georgia, Roy, Bakersfield, California and Wendelin, Porter, Oklahoma;  three sisters, Delphine, Alene [Theodore], Porter, Oklahoma and Armo Bee, Tulsa, Oklahoma;  thirty-three grandchildren;  sixty-six great-grandchildren;  nine great-great-grandchildren; and a caravan of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, who will truly miss her.

The Celebratory farewell will commence on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Antioch Temple of Hope,  500 West Broadway Avenue in Muskogee.  Dr. Marlon J. Coleman is the gracious host and Reverend Gary Hall, Sr., her Pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church will Preside.

The Christian Committal will be on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 12 Noon in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
