IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daniel Ross,
Sr.
February 17, 1927 – May 28, 2019
Daniel Ross, Sr. was born on February 17, 1927 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma from the union of Sterling and Mamie [Barre'} Ross, Sr. He was the 6th of 12 children in the family and was preceded in death by four brothers; Joe, Paul, James and Alfred; and three sisters, Betty, Marie and Shirley.
Dan, as he was affectionately referred to, grew up in Okmulgee and attended Uganda Martyr's Catholic School. He was a WWII Veteran, serving in the United States Navy. While serving his country, he received two medals, WWII Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal before his honorable discharge. Dan later worked at the American St. Gobain Glass Factory and also was a life-long farmer.
As a young man, Daniel courted and married Elnora White in Okmulgee, Oklahoma in August of 1949. They enjoyed a loving and happy marriage. This union of over 53 years blessed them with three wonderful children. Dan was a life-long, faithful member of the Uganda Martyr's Catholic Church and an active member of the Knights of Peter Claver. Because of his devotion to his Parish, he donated a stained glass window to Uganda Martyr's Church engraved with the Barre' Ross family name. He adored his family and they adored him.
After the untimely passing of Elnora on October 4, 2002, Dan was blessed to find love a second time and married Anna Jean LaCour on January 27, 2005. This union was blessed with 14 years of marriage until his death. They loved traveling and spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dan became ill suddenly in May and received his heavenly wings while received medical care at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center on May 28, 2019.
