On January 22, 1952, in Bristow, Oklahoma, a baby girl was born to Roy and Haze Washington. She was the tenth of thirteen children.
Darlene united with the Mount Herman Baptist Church at an early age. Darlene attended Newby and Gypsy Elementary Schools. Her high school years were at Depew High School. Darlene was an exceptional talented basketball player. She was on the 1969 State Championship Basketball team. Also, she was selected to the Oklahoma Allstate team and selected to the Oklahoma team that played Texas, which was a huge honor. Darlene was the first Black basketball queen in Depew High School. Darlene worked for Kwikset company in Bristow.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Christian, her parents, and brothers; Booker T., Delois, and Sylvester. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: two daughters; Christal(Jeremy), Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shamara, Bristow, Oklahoma, grand daughters; Audra and Jeremisha, grandsons; Anthony and Darrius; great granddaughter ; Makayla, and great grandsons;Nicholas and Kendrick; siblings; Freddie, San Bernardino, California, Raymond(Hazel) Las Vegas, Nevada, Leroy, Denver, Colorado, Cecil(Rose), Tulsa, Oklahoma, Cornelious(Vera), Scottsdale, Arizona, Kenneth(Sherry) Fort Smith, Arkansas, Hazel(Raymond) Tulsa, Oklahoma, Leonard(Donna) Bristow, Oklahoma, and Lawrence, Lee's Summit, Missouri. Two special sisters-in-law; Effie Washington, Denver, Colorado, and Pat Washington, Tulsa, Oklahoma and a host of neices, nephews, cousins, and friends will also, cherish her memory.
Services for Ms. Washington will be Wednesday February 3, 2021 at 11AM at Mt. Herman Baptist Church in Bristow, Oklahoma.
Friends may visit her on Tuesday from 1PM to 6PM at our Tulsa Chapel.
