Obituary

On the 1st day of April in 1956, Darrell Lynn Abernathy was born to Marshall Abernathy and Minnie Brady [London]. Darrell was affectionately known by many as "Lynn", "Lynn-Boy", "Po-Ab", or "Ab"; names given by family and friends and self proclamation. Just as his many nicknames reflect, he was many things to many people.

Darrell was a kind, generous and loving, free-spirited man. Regardless of life's circumstances, he never lost his ability to warm others with his smile, a song or a dance. There was never an unhappy moment in his company. He was always a reciprocal person; he allowed others to trade their sadness to share in his joy and immeasurable gladness. We know that his joy came from the love he had for Christ, people, music, dancing and hard work. He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior. Darrell united with the Praise Center Family Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Darrell attended school in Wagoner, Okay and Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was a graduate of Muskogee High School with the Class of 1974. While in school, he participated in auto mechanic shop and played baseball. He later attended Connors State College, while working as a golf caddy. He later joined the workforce at Owens-Brockway Glass Company. He was a dedicated, hard worker and often times worked many hours of overtime. He would work so many hours of overtime, that he would be so exhausted and literally fall into bed. His industrious work habits never left him.

On Monday morning, July 18, 2010, at 5:05 A.M., the "Angels Musical Procession" was heard and Darrell stepped from "Time to Eternity!" he was surrounded by his daughter, granddaughter, sisters, family and friends. We can only imagine the singing and dancing he is now doing in his heavenly residence.

Those that wait to see Darrell again; his loyal daughter, Sandra [Fedro] Givens, Tulsa, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Daysha, Diane, Bobby, Krystal, Angel, Fedro Jr., and his foster grandchildren, Christian, Clorinda and Aaron; three brothers, Kenneth [LaTisa] McClendon, Hinesville, Georgia, Stermond [Claudia] Stephenson, Boynton, Oklahoma and Cletus Gibbs, Muskogee, Oklahoma; five sisters, Carolyn Love, Muskogee, Sheila Harmon, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Candice Milton, Muskogee, Eartha Gibbs White [Ron], and Patricia Parker, Muskogee, Oklahoma; his uncle, Robert [Doris] Brady; a special niece, Cynthia Grayson; his special friends, Gail, Nancy, Sue (the three Golden Hearted Girls), Fred, Ben and Robin; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends. [if your name is not on this paper, please know that it is eternally sketched upon his heart!]

The Tribute will be on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in the Praise Center Family Church. Pastor Stephen Wiley, the gracious host and Rev. Fedro Givens, Officiant. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery at Gibson Station, Oklahoma.
