Darrell Wayne Brown was born to William R. and Lena DeGraftenreed Brown on January 27, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas.
Darrell received his education from Sumner High School, in Kansas City, Kansas. He was enlisted in the United States Marines in Kansas City after high school and was stationed in San Diego, California. After serving his time, he received a honorable medical discharge and enrolled in Kansas City Community College.
After several years of school, he met and married Marguerite Roberta Syrus and moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma. He went to Northeastern State University and graduated with a bachelor's in arts. He accepted the Lord in the Church of God in Christ at an early age. He loved the Lord.
Darrell loved music, playing the piano and singing. He would play his wife music all through the night. He loved writing poetry and short stories. He even won a Prestigious Award for his writings in poetry. He took many photos that he portrayed around the town and received an award in Photography. He used to work to the Oklahoma Eagle. Always engaging his mind, he then taught himself how to draw. He loved to preach and sing at the VA chapel always sharing the love of Jesus.
Darrell Wayne Brown, in his 74th year, dozed into eternal slumber on June 9, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Delores Turner, Valiece Wilkins and Janice V. Sims; along with two brothers, Harvey Brown and William Brown.
Darrell leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 44 years Marguerite Roberta Brown, three sisters Dorothy Chappell, Ella Zachary, Alvia Evelyn Fuller, all of Kansas City, Kansas, one brother, Elder Russell Brown (Elizabeth) of Denver, Colorado; many sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law and a host of nieces & nephews and many friends.
Service of Memory for Mr. Brown will be on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the All Nations Seventh Day Adventist Church in Haskell, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
You may visit Mr. Brown, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the funeral home in Muskogee on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
