A family conducted Memorial Ceremony will be shared on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM in The People's Chapel of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc.

Darrell Jay Burkhalter 56, of Dallas, TX passed away Saturday February 2, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Darrell was born July 25, 1962 in Minneapolis, MN, he was youngest of four children to born to Warnett and Shirley Burkhalter.

Darrell attended elementary school in Minneapolis until his family moved to Muskogee on the infamous 3rd street. During this time he developed and continued a love of sports and music; idolizing Stevie Wonder and Jazz music; which led him to playing the drums as a longtime hobby. He graduated from Muskogee High School with the class of 1980.

Darrell was a loyal team member for Target Inc. for almost 20 years, where he held the position of Team Leader.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Camellia McJunkin. He leaves behind his wife of 14 years, Phyllis their son Dillon both of Dallas, TX, a daughter Aretha (Reginald) Patrick, six grandchildren La'Zavier Lovell, A'Nysha, Zayden and Azaria Patrick of Dallas, TX, Sunnie R. McJunkin and Gareth L. McJunkin of Muskogee, his "Pops" Elroy Strand of Muskogee, sister Delores of Muskogee, brothers Dewayne of Muskogee and Derrick of Minneapolis, MN, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
