On October 10, 1913 in Conway, Arkansas, Cora and Gordon Stovall brought in the world a beautiful baby girl. They named her Dasslee "MeMa" Carter. She was the third child out of eleven. Mema moved to St. Louis, Missouri in the early years. In the 50s, she moved to Chicago, Illinois where she was employed with the University Circle Campus for many years in the food service department. She would later move to Tulsa, Oklahoma in the early part of the 2000s.

MeMa went to rest on August 2, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her parents, and 8 siblings preceded her in death. Remaining to cherish her precious memories: Vasteen Jones, Chicago, IL., one sister, Dena Stovall, California, one brother, Burn Stovall, Detroit, MI., four grandchildren: Teresa Taylor, Tulsa, OK., June Taylor, Tulsa, OK., Roland Brown, Saginaw, MI., Alan Brown (Rhonda), Tulsa, OK., three granddaughters: Sharon Reese, Tulsa, OK., Ann Reese, Tulsa, OK., and Lorraine Terry, Chicago, IL., 7 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, 2 great-great-great grandchildren, one nephew: Clifford Stovall, Detroit, MI., two nieces: Bobby Stovall, Detroit, MI., Betty Wood (Leonard), Detroit, MI., along with a host of friends.

Services for Mrs. Carter will be Saturday August 7, 2010 at 10AM inside our All Faiths Chapel in Tulsa. Friends may visit her as she peacefully rests on Friday from 12Noon to 7PM.
