Obituary

Mr. David Manning, in his 68th year, surrendered his Soul to Jesus on Friday, November 20, 2020 from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

On September 12, 1952 a handsome little angel was born to Allen Manning and Naomi Ransom. David attended Okmulgee High School where he played the trombone in the band. He graduated in 1971. He went on to pursue his education at Langston University where he received his bachelor's degree in Biology in 1976. During his 1974 college year, he participated in the US Army Corps of Engineers Co-op Student Employment Program as a Park Ranger Technician in Lake Eufaula. Upon graduating from Langston, he continued his employment with the US Army Corps of Engineers Tulsa District as a Biologist. In the mid 1970's, he joined the Regulatory program and was promoted to Chief of Regulatory Division in 1991 and served in that capacity for 20 years. He also served as a Black Employee Manager for 5 years. After 37 years of service, David retired and received numerous awards and accolades from the Corp. During his retirement David enjoyed watching his favorite football team, Kansas City Chiefs, attending Oklahoma City Thunder basketball games, fishing, traveling and watching classic car shows.

David was united in holy matrimony to Ladonna Sue Brooks in 1974 and to this union two daughters were born, Tyra Wynette Crisp-Olden and Latesha Dionne Manning-Cowans. He attended Eastside Baptist Church in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and became a Chairman of the deacon board as well as a member of the brotherhood choir. After the passing of his 1st wife, David found love again and joined in holy matrimony with Pauletta Diane Churchwell. He began raising her daughter, Andreanna Shanice Love. He later joined Metropolitan Baptist Church where he was a member at the time of his passing.

David was preceded in death by his mother, father, 1st wife (LaDonna), daughter (Tyra), brother (Anthony), and uncle (Leamon).

Those left to cherish in his memory is his wife, Pauletta Manning of Tulsa, OK, daughter, Latesha Cowans(Dejuan) of Tulsa, OK; stepdaughter, Andreanna Love of Tulsa, OK; brothers, Troy Miles of Wichita, KS, Terry Miles of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Alexia Oropesa, Tyandra and Tyesha Olden all of Tulsa, OK; great grand-children, along with a host of relatives and friends.

A Memorial Ceremony celebrating David's life will be shared on Saturday morning, November 28, 2020 at 10:00 AM in the All Faith's Chapel of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Tulsa.  Reverend Bobby Kendrick, Sr., will officiate.
