Dawn Clarice DeVorse , 52 of Tulsa, OK received her wings on Friday July 23, 2021.
Dawn was born on November 26, 1968 at Claremore Indian Hospital in Claremore, OK to David and Sally (Rolland) Dennison, Sr. Dawn attended Kellyville Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1987. She earned several college degrees including Liberal Arts from Tulsa Community College and Food Service Management-Baking from OSU Tech., where she met the love of her live and husband Tony of 23 years.
Dawn was blessed with the gift of baking and cake decorating. She was employed by Ann's Bakery for 6 years. You knew you was close to Dawn's heart if you received a " Dawn cake " for your birthday, graduation, or any other special celebration. Not to mention a lemon meringue or cherry pie.
Dawn was a faithful employee of the Cherokee Nation for 15 years as a Gaming Agent where she earned recognition of her outstanding performance and valuable contributions to the Cherokee Nation Gaming Commission.
As a kidney donor recipient, Dawn was a member of the U.S. Transplant Games – Team Oklahoma, where she traveled nationwide competing in bowling and dart throwing earning multiple medals. Dawn was a member of the Mucogee (Creek) Nation Tribe and Navajo Nation. She was a lifelong member of the Native American Church-Yuchi Chapter and Polcat (Kellyville) Ceremonial Ground. Historical Vernon AME Church was Dawn's home church where she was baptized on April 4, 1999.
Dawn is survived by her husband Anthony "Tony" DeVorse , of the home; Daughter JaNai DeVorse Cole, husband Rico, grandson Edward of Tulsa, OK.; Daughter Sabrina Jones, granddaughter Semyra Jones, grandson Elijah Jones of Jonesboro, AR; Bonus Mother Ethel "Pat" Waugh of Tulsa, OK; Bonus Mother Alretha Ross of Parkin, AK; Bonus Mother Kassandra DeVorse of Los Angeles, CA; Brother Steven & Andrea Slaughter of Chicago, IL; Father David L. Dennison, Sr. of Sapulpa, OK; Brother David & Daniele Dennison, Jr. of Sapulpa, OK; Sister Jessica "Bunny" Frazier of Sapulpa, OK. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and friends.
Dawn is preceded in death by her Son Derrick Lena, Mother Sally Elizabeth (Rolland) Dennison, Sisters Denise Elizabeth Dennison, Tina Louise Dennison. Her maternal grandparents Albert & Nancy ( Watache ) Rolland. Her paternal grandparents George & Josephine Dennison.
Services will be Tuesday July 27, 2021 at 10AM at Vernon AME Church in Tulsa.
Visitation will be Monday from 4PM until 6PM.
