Obituary

Debra Johnson-McIntosh was born July 26, 1956 to her proud parents, Floyd and Juanita Reagan Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK. She was the oldest of four children, the others being boys. Debra's early education at Edwards Elementary and John F. Kennedy Junior High School stoked an intense curiosity in both math and science. She excelled at Douglas High School, graduating in 1974. Along the way she collected several awards and scholarship offers. She then entered Oklahoma State University majoring in Chemical Engineering, graduating in 1979. During these years, she worked several summer jobs in the field, won Miss Debutante 1975 (OKC), and became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. While she had worked since the age of 13, her first professional job was at Warren Petroleum in Tulsa as process engineer where she labored until it was bought by Chevron. On February 11, 1981, she was blessed to bring into the world her daughter, joy, and friend, Amber Juanita. Their relationship transcended mother-child; no words can adequately describe their dedication to each other. In early 1984, she began dating an acquaintance she met at OSU, Ralph McIntosh, and after a 3 year courtship, they married on November 25, 1987. Debra learned and came to enjoy the financial accounting aspect of her career, and after a brief stint as an independent contractor, she joined Citgo Petroleum in 1998 where she remained until her retirement last summer.
The loss of her youngest brother to ALS turned her into a passionate advocate for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. In addition she was a proud supporter and member of the board of Goodwill Industries of Tulsa. Her favorite hobbies were fishing with brothers and family, bid whist, dominoes, and occasionally patronizing the local gaming establishments.
She leaves her to cherish her memory her husband of nearly 25 years, Ralph (Tony) McIntosh, beloved daughter Amber McIntosh (Trey), her loving parents Floyd and Juanita Johnson, brother Philip Johnson (Cindy), sisters-in law Rhonda Johnson and Yanai Johnson, brother-in-law Russell McIntosh (Geraldine), mother-in-law Henryetta McIntosh, nieces Jasmine Johnson, Brandi Kelley, Brittani Johnson, nephews Robert Johnson, Jr., Philip Johnson, Jr., and Ryan M. Johnson.

A Memorial Service to honor the LIfe & Legacy of Mrs. Debra McIntosh will be held Monday June 18, 2012 at 2PM at Metropolitan Baptist Church.
