Obituary

Mr. Delbert Eugene Jackson, Sr., 84, of Muskogee Oklahoma, transitioned from Earth to Glory on December 8, 2020, with his wife and family by his side.

Delbert was born in Wichita, Kansas on April 13, 1936 to Alma [Moses] and Summerfield Jack Jackson. After graduating from Wichita North High, he proudly served in the United States Army, where he completed service with an Honorable discharge. Upon his return home, he met and married the love of his life, Priscilla Ann Carter. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson lived in Wichita, Kansas, later moved to Okay Oklahoma, then eventually settled in Muskogee Oklahoma. From that union came 4 souls: Delbert Jr., Caryn, Lavonda, and Steven; Delbert and Priscilla also welcomed into their home and raised their nieces and nephew as their own: Joey, Diane, Bernadette, Lolita, Helene, Agatha, and LaTonda. They also raised their grandchildren, Karis and Vivian.

Delbert was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church joining under Reverend Frank Morrison, where he served in many different positions. Delbert was a Masonic member of the following: Trinity Lodge #84, Hira Temple Shriners #116, San Hedrin Consistory #36 where he served as a 33rd Degree Mason, Shriners Masonic Temple #116 where he served as a Past Potentate, Royal Arch Mason, and was a titled worthy patron for Cecil E. Robertson, Chapter #50.

Considered a Jack of all trades and then some, Delbert was very active and well known within the community and with his carpentry skills led several projects for Habitat for Humanity, building homes of love for people in need. Delbert was employed by Fansteel Metals as a Manufacturing Engineer, where he later retired. Upon retirement he and Priscilla traveled often and took annual vacations with all the kids. Delbert worked hard providing a life for his family and eventually became a self-employed entrepreneur with his DJ Videography business bringing so much love and life into every photo and video he took.

Delbert was a loving, caring, and supportive husband, a devoted father and grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend to so many he took into his heart. Being a kind and dependable man was of the utmost importance to Delbert and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family.

He is preceded in death by his beautiful daughter: Lavonda "KayKay", father: Summerfield, mother: Alma, sister: Stella, brother: William, nephews: Joey and Erick, niece: Angel, and great granddaughter: Abigail.

He leaves to mourn, his beloved wife of 63 years: Mrs. Priscilla Jackson; sister: Marie (Ollie) Jones; 2 sons: Delbert Jr. (Yvette) Jackson and Steven Jackson; 1 daughter: Caryn Jackson; 10 nieces: Patricia (Tommy) Hill, Alametria Rogers, Dianne Teague, Bernadette Teague, Lolita Teague, Helene (Terry Sr.) Smith, Agatha Teague, LaTonda Cotton, Aleda (Vince) Allen, and Carmen Jones; 3 nephews: Coy Lee, Mike Jones, and Ollie Jones Jr.; 11 grandchildren: Michael (Kierra) Jackson, Brandon Jackson, Alicia (Chaunce) Foster, Lavonda "Katie" Jackson, Karis (Diana) Jackson, Vivian (Ricky) Page, Donnie (Leila) Current, Ronnie (Canisha) Jackson, Brandon Jackson, Tye Williams and Nakia Burns; great grandchildren: Karis Jr., Jaden, Keyara, Shekena, Ricky Jr., Arissa, and many more whom he loved dearly; 1 great great grandchild: Karis III; a host of great and great great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

You may visit Delbert, as he slumbers in peaceful repose on Thursday from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

A Graveside Ceremony will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at High Noon in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.  Reverend Roger Stephenson will Preside and Pastor Mark Williams will deliver the Eulogy.

The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 A.M. on Friday morning, for those wishing to travel to the cemetery.

Masks are mandatory and social distancing at the cemetery.
