Mrs. DeLois Barnett, after 69 years of life, labor and love, "is now resting beyond the hills from which cometh help."
A lifelong resident of the Morris Community, Mrs. Barnett was a long-time member of the Holy Temple House of Prayer in Grayson, Oklahoma.
She was a homemaker, a nurse aid and served the Lord faithfully as church clerk, secretary and associate minister.
She attended school in Grayson and graduated from Grayson High School with the Class of 1960.
Mother Barnett was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruby [Wilson] Goudeau, her husband, Sherman Barnett in 1992, a brother and a sister.
Those that wait upon the Lord; her sons, Sherman Barnett, Jr., Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Harvel [Cerita] Barnett, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Freddie Lee Barnett, Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Johnny Charles Barnett and Elgene Barnett, both of Morris, Oklahoma; her daughters, Sherlene DeLois Harris [Gerald], Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ruby Marshall [Johnny], Inola, Oklahoma, Jacquelyn Ann Barnett, Morris, Oklahoma and Loretha Mae Barnett, Cincinnati, Ohio; her brothers, Charlie Goudeau [Olivia], Wichita, Kansas and Fred Goudeau, Boley, Oklahoma; her sisters, Ruby Lee Goudeau and Corrine Whitmore [Robin], Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Loletha, Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Mary Ann Fields, Boley, Oklahoma, Eloise Henderson and Carolyn Henderson, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a caravan of other relatives and friends.
The Sacred Farewell for Sister DeLois Barnett will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mount Zion Baptist Church. Reverend David Burks is the gracious host Pastor and Elder Tony R. Maxville, Pastor of Love Tabernacle Church of God in Christ will officiate, assisted by Sister Carrie Lewis, Pastor of Holy Temple House of Prayer.
The Christian Committal will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Okmulgee. You may visit Sister Barnett, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home on Monday from 10 AM until 6 PM.
