Mrs. Delorise Colbert, age 77 and a longtime resident of Okmulgee, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 26, 2010 from Okmulgee Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Colbert was born on March 10, 1933, the daughter of Roosevelt Cole and Nettie Johnson. She worked as a Home Health Care Provider and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she sang with the Choir. She was a loving and dedicated mother, raising her "army", as her family was affectionately called. She loved gardening, cooking, family time and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, L. T. Colbert, Sr., and a son, L. T. Colbert, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her sons, Wesley Colbert [Lisa], Okmulgee, Ted Colbert [Zelma], Tulsa, Oklahoma, Nathaniel Colbert, Bobby Ray Colbert [Sharon], and Ray Colbert [ Dianne], all of Okmulgee; her daughters, Ruth Mitchell, Lular Tucker [Albert], Lois Hammon [J.D.] and Shirley Colbert, all of Okmulgee, Eileen Murdock [Darryl], Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Terrina Alexander [L.C.], Okmulgee, Oklahoma; her sister, Alberta Cole, Moore, Oklahoma; a caravan of granchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and many friends.
The Sacred Farewell will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Reverend David Burks, Senior Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
You may visit Mrs. Colbert, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home in Okmulgee on Friday from 12 Noon to 6 PM.
