In the Winter of 1954, a baby girl was born from the union of Fayetta Parker and Arnell Mackey on the 17th day of December. She was given the name of Deloyce Almetra Mackey.
Arriving in Taft, Oklahoma, it was in Taft where she received her education and upbringing. At the loss of her mother while very young, Deloyce was raised by her grandmother, Jannie Mae Parker, who raised her and her siblings as if they were her own.
Better known as "Mackey" by all who knew her, while yet still at an impressionable age, she united with the Cole Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Taft, which is now Cummings-Cole, under the pastoral guidance of the late Reverend Theodore Goff. She served the Lord on the usher board.
Mackey attended Moton Public School in Taft, graduating in 1972. She married Michael Majors on November 11, 1973 and their union was blessed with five children. This marriage was later dissolved.
Mackey closed her eyes on this side of Eternity on Monday afternoon, June 12, 2006 with her loving family near her side. She was preceded in death by her mother, grandmother, grandfather, a sister and a brother.
She leaves loving memories to be cherished by her family; four daughters and one son, Juanita Parker Majors, Taft, Oklahoma, Marshanna Majors and Marisha Majors, both of Dallas, Texas, Michelle Majors and Michael Majors, Jr., both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four sisters, Rayella Newton, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Patricia Newton and Janice Bowler, both of Taft, Oklahoma and Bobbie Crook, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five brothers, Odell Parker, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Bert, of Taft, Oklahoma, Theodore, of Porter, Oklahoma, Joe of Dallas, Texas and Howard of Oakland, California; six grandchildren, Kermit Thomas, IV, Kenneth Thomas, Kerisha Thomas, Keondra Thomas, Tamara Thomas and Miguel Thomas; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
The final tribute to "Mackey" will be on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in the Taft Resource Center, Taft, Oklahoma. Reverend Eugene Bowler will officiate. Burial will follow in Taft City Cemetery. You may visit Deloyce, as she slumbers at the funeral home in Muskogee on Friday from 12 Noon until 7 PM.
