IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Denise
Grant
August 9, 1955 – January 15, 2022
On August 9, 1955, a beautiful baby girl was born in Newark, New Jersey, to Robert Taylor and Delores (McClish) Thomas. They named her Denise. Denise was the second of twelve children.
Denise attended Newark Public Schools, including Barringer High School, showing an early interest in health care.
While living in Newark, Denise gave birth to a beautiful baby boy she named Lawrence. Later, Denise moved to Oklahoma, where she married Stanley Wilson. To this union, three beautiful children were born: Francheska, Kimberlen, and Stanley. This marriage was later dissolved and she moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she met and married Alphonso Grant.
Healthcare is where Denise spent most of her employment career, working at the VA hospital and Muskogee Regional Hospital in Muskogee, OK. In 1999, Alphonso and Denise moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she continued her employment in the healthcare field, working at various nursing homes until her health began to fail.
Denise expressed her faith and trust in the Lord during a long and difficult illness, and his grace was ever present as she was called home to be with the Lord.
Denise's mother and father preceded her in death.
Denise leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Alphonso Grant; her children, Lawrence Taylor of Florida, Francheska Alexander of Canyon, TX, Kimberlen Alvarez (Pablo) of Amarillo, TX, and Stanley Wilson of Amarillo, TX; brothers, Tony McClish, Rushell Flucker, Ronald Mitchell, Andre Tucker, and Britton Thomas III; sisters, Doreen Alston, Robin Thomas, and Arnell Thomas; aunts, Nita Talbert, Phyllis Rashed, and Kitty Combs; uncle, Richard McClish; sisters-in-law, Idella Teague, Freida Derrick, and Laversia Murray; brothers-in-law, Alonzo Grant and Terrell Grant; grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special friend, Monica Dyer.
