Dixon

Sista's Story
December 28, 1950 was a day filled with unexpected blessings for Annie Mae Dixon, as she gave birth to another set of twins (a son and daughter). Devora Dee was the name given to the precious baby girl. The twins not only shared a birthday, they shared the same birthday as their mother.
Devora who was affectionately referred to as "Sista" was the baby of 6 children born to the late Annie Mae Dixon. "Sista" never left the home and was the loving and supportive caregiver of her mother throughout her illness and until her death. In addition, she assisted her mother in the rearing of her nieces, nephews and later great nephews. She raised MacKenzie "Kenny" on her own after the death of her mother. "Sista" was a proud and supportive mother to him in school, college and beyond.
"Sista" attended and graduated from Boley High School in 1970. She often proclaimed, that her favorite subject was "recess".
"Sista" enrolled at OIC in Oklahoma City where she earned a certificate in Electronics.
"Sista" was a dedicated worker; she worked for Otronics in Okemah for 5 years. She retired from TDK in Shawnee, OK after 21 years of employment.
"Sista" joined her family at the Valley Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Otis Johnson Sr. She later united with the Goodwill Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Clifford Burks. After the untimely death of Pastor Burks, "Sista" moved her membership to the New Hope Baptist Church. "Sista" was a willing worker for as long as her health permitted.
"Sista" was gifted a companion by her nephew Jeremy and she loved "Mhann" as if he were her own child, even though he was a dog. She talked to and about "Mhann" as if he was her roommate and best friend. "Mhann" loved her, and she loved him.
In 2017 "Sista" was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. In spite of her illness and treatment schedule, she persevered in the maintenance and upkeep of the family home and property. She accepted her new role as Supervisor of Kenny and Robin and they gladly fulfilled her requests to her specifications.
On December 2, 2022 Sista closed her eyes to a life of labor and opened her heart as she accepted her restful reward. She has left her family and friends with a lifetime of memories.
"Sista" has a host of love ones on the other side, some of which include, but not limited to; her
mother; niece, Toni "Missie"; aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and "Mhann".
Left to cherish her lifetime of memories, her surrogate children; Robin and MacKenzie both of Boley, Michelle Gilbert (Kenneth) of Shawnee, OK; twin brother, Donald Dixon "Brother" (Dora) of Gore, OK; brother, Cornell Nash (Charlotte) of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters, Annette Marzett (Larry) of Boley, OK; Myrtle Wilson (Walter) of Olathe, KS; Ann Dixon of Oklahoma City, OK; nieces, nephews and cousins.
