A precious bundle of joy was born to Nadine LaVonn Buyckes and Frank Samuel Buyckes on July 30, 1960 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As a child, she attended St. Paul C.O.G.I.C. where she gave her life to the Lord at an early age. Diana graduated from Tulsa McLain High School in 1978. She then went on to go to trade school where she received her certificate as a Nurse Technician which she utilized working at St. Francis Hospital for over 10 years. She was well like by all of her co-workers which is evident in the numerous ways they supported her during her hospital stay. Diana was always full of laughs and anyone who was graced with her presence can think of many moments where her jokes would bring people to their knees with laughter.
Diana cherished and devoted her life to her two sons, Christopher and Ibrahim Buyckes, who was her lifeline. She had a compassionate and caring spirit, which was evident in the way she cared for her mother, sister, and uncle. Through the years she has opened her doors to several nieces, nephew and cousins and was always there to lend a helping hand.
Diana enjoyed nature and being outdoors. She had plants and a big garden where she grew all types of fruits and vegetables. But her true passion was fishing. Regardless of what the temperatures were you could find Diana on some dock in places unheard of calling her family members telling them about all different types of fish she caught. During the last seven years, Diana has faced loss, trials and tribulations, from the loss of her Mother, and two sisters, but she triumphed through her strength and love from her family and friends. The family grasped for air on Wednesday July 25, 2012 when God called Diana home suddenly. God said that he would give us no more than we can bear. Even though the family is in agony, stunned and shocked, we will lean on God for strength and understanding. The family bond that Diana shared with her family is one that doesn't die, but lives on through her children, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Her parents, four sisters: Felicia, Sheilia, LueTerry, and Samantha Buyckes, preceded her in death. Diana leaves to cherish her memory, two sons: Christopher and Ibrahim Buyckes, two sisters: Mary Mann, California, Regina Buyckes Drain, Houston, TX., three brothers: Curtis Buyckes, Tery and James Price, Houston, TX., three aunts: Ferdine Willis (Otis), Tulsa, OK., Victoria Lennox, Detroit, MI., Shirley Marshall, Tulsa, OK., one uncle, Thomas Hyche, Tulsa, OK., along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Also, a special acknowledgment to her friend, Tammie Warlick of over 20 years.
Services will be Friday August 3, 2012 at 1PM at Heritage Methodist Church located at 5300 E. Kenosha in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Friends may visit her on Thursday from 1PM until 7PM in Tulsa.
