Obituary

Mr. Dolvin Wayne Wardlow, after 58 years, surrendered his soul on Friday, September 18, 2015 from his home in Muskogee.

Dolvin Wayne Wardlow was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Ernest and Beulah Wardlow on April 22, 1957. He was raised in a loving household with both parents, seven siblings, and two cousins.

His spiritual roots began at Jerusalem Baptist Church where he received Christ and was baptized. He attended Muskogee Public Schools and graduated from Muskogee High in 1975. After graduation, he served in the U. S. Army. Following his military service, he settled in Tampa, Florida where he lived for many years.

Dolvin had a willful personality and once he had his mind made up about something, there was no changing it. If you were in a debate with him, you were destined to lose, but the love remained. He enjoyed being around family and friends and calling you by your childhood nickname. His laughter was big and infectious. He loved watching sports, playing pool, and listening to music. He was a proud father, stepfather and grandfather.

He moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2006. He rededicated his life to Christ and united with Phillips Chapel A.M. E. Church. He also met the love of his life, Cathy Allaway. They were married in 2009 and later moved to Muskogee, OK. They returned to his home church, New Jerusalem Baptist Church and became active members. Dolvin sang with the "Voices" and the Brotherhood Choir.

Dolvin was grateful for every day the Lord blessed him to live. He did not take any for granted, as he knew they weren't promised. After spending meaningful and quality time with his siblings and other family members on a vacation cruise earlier this year, his health began to deteriorate. He cherished that memory and it was another reminder of God's graciousness towards him. God has now given him the ultimate rest as he is safely resting in His loving arms.

Immediate family members who preceded him in death are: his mother and father, Ernest and Beulah Wardlow, and his brothers Ernest Willard and Marvin Larry Wardlow, and Otis Baines (a cousin who was reared as a brother).

He leaves to cherish his memories and celebrate his life, his wife Cathy Wardlow; his daughter, Roxanne Brown, Tampa, FL and son Brandon Jenkins, Tulsa, OK; stepdaughter and stepson, Cheriee Allaway Jackson and Tyronne Allaway Jackson; three grandchildren, Bania, Brandon, Jr, and Jaylah; two sisters, Doris Foster, Albuquerque, NM, Debra (Charles) Coleman, Atlanta, GA. Three brothers, Curtis (Joyce) Wardlow, Donald (Mary) Wardlow, Muskogee OK and Ronald (Clara) Wardlow, Tampa, FL, Ola Still (a cousin who was reared as a sister) Inglewood, CA; one uncle, O. Z. Wilson, Muskogee, OK; a number of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly; and many cousins and friends.

Dolvin enjoyed life and would love for us to make this service a joyous Homegoing celebrating his departure from the suffering and pain he endured during his illness on earth to his entrance into his new home in glory.
