Mr. Donald Lewis McGuirt, after 66 years with us, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 5, 2017.

Donald Lewis McGuirt was born the third of Sandy Lewis McGuirt and Fletta Ruth Venters on February 16 ^th , 1951 in Boley, Oklahoma.  Donald attended Boley Elementary and graduated from Boley High School.  After his parents' divorce, he and his sisters, Sandra and LaFrance were taken in by their grandparents, Drue and Agnes Venters. Drue passed away in 1956 and Agnes raised them to adulthood.  Donald joined the First Christian Church in Boley at an early age.

He moved to Buchanan, Michigan and married Marcia and to this union one child was born.  They were later divorced.  On December 27 ^th 1991 he was happily wedded to LaVern and remained united until his death.  Donald was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend.

Donald worked as a machinist at Clarke Manufacturing in Michigan, North American Rockwell Aircraft in California, a computer and maintenance supervisor at Boley Public Schools.  He also assisted with coaching the girls' basketball team and loved it! Donald graduated from truck driving school and drove across country for Express Trucking.  Currently he was working for the Kickapoo Casino in the maintenance department and working part-time for the City of Boley.  He was very diligent at his jobs and won the respect of many people.

Donald loved to enjoy life and he deeply loved his wife and children.  Cooking barbecue and entertaining his family at his home was one of his favorite things to do.  He also enjoyed playing dominos with his family and friends.  He also loved watching basketball and football.  He excelled at bowling, winning a trophy.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  He was very supportive of his children and grandchildren's goals and aspirations.

Donald was preceded in death by his mother, father, two sisters, maternal and paternal grandparents.

Donald leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, LaVern McGuirt of the home; two sisters, Sandra (Ray) Penn of Guthrie, OK and LaFrance (Gary) Raney of Katy, TX; three sons, Donald McGuirt, Jr. (Holly) of Niles, MI; and Donald Joshua McGuirt of Buchanan, MI; Eddie Johnson, Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter Pamela Johnson of Spencer, OK; 10 grandkids; 2 great grandkids; one uncle Drue Perry (Colleen) Venters, Jr.; his best friend Eddie Houston and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and  other relatives and friends.

Service of Memory for Mr. McGuirt will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in the St. John Baptist Church of Boley, Oklahoma.  His Pastor, Reverend Elmer LuGrand will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Cemetery at Boley.

You may visit him, as he slumbers in peaceful repose in the Hyde Park Chapel at Boley on Monday from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 11:30 at the funeral home before his is placed at the Church.
