Donald Singleton Sr
Our dear dad, Donald R. Singleton, transitioned from this life on April 16, 2020 and is now in the presence of his Father God. "I have fought the good fight. I have finished my course; I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." (II Timothy 4:7-8).
Don was born March 23, 1951 to James and Margaret Singleton. He was the third of 12 children, five sisters, eight brothers, two brothers have preceded him in death. At a young age Don joined United Temple Church, and later in life rededicated his life to Christ professing his faith in the redemptive work of the Cross.
Don attended and graduated from Carter G. Woodson School in Tullahassee, Oklahoma. He was an outstanding student and a gifted basketball player for the Tullahassee Wildcats leading them in his sophomore year to the State Championship, and although they did not win the coveted State Championship trophy it was truly an honor he never forgot.
Don's profession as a brick mason gave him the opportunity of owning his own business which he employed several of his brothers. He is survived by his three daughters, LaDonna Yarbrough (Pat), YuLonda Singleton, Tia Jefferson (Andre), all of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and one son, Donald Ray Singleton, Jr., of West Memphis, Arkansas. He leaves to cherish his memory four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, five brothers, five sisters, three aunts, four uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We thank God for the time we had with our father and will miss his warm smile and witty sense of humor.
