Obituary

Doris T. Daniels was born Doristein Coran on August 17, 1944, as the second oldest to Lorean Cotton and James Coran in Memphis, Tennessee. She made her transition to heaven on June 13, 2019 after living a life full of love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

With a childhood quiet demeanor, Doris accepted Christ into her life at age 11 and was baptized at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She received her cosmetology certification from Manual Training High School in Muskogee, Oklahoma and then focused on helping raise her younger siblings. Her high school sweetheart, Eddie Walker, was never too far behind her heels and in 1964 they were married after having their first child, Claudia.

Madly in love with Eddie and her new baby girl, Doris was a passionate homemaker who loved to cook, host friends and keep a meticulously clean house. She also managed to teach herself to sew.

By 1969, Doris had birthed her five biological children and joined forces with Clarence "Dolly Boy" Daniels. Dolly Boy and Doris left Oklahoma, and after a short stop in Kansas City, relocated to Minnesota -- a move that paved the way for future family members to make a home up north. Sadly, in 1975, Dolly Boy was tragically killed, leaving Doris to care for their young family.

Now a single mother, she moved her family back to her hometown of Muskogee and was the primary caregiver, finding work in a local factory but still going on an occasional fishing outing with family and friends.

As her children aged and left home, Doris filled her time working as a daycare provider and a relationship sparked between her and Alvin White. They were married in 1988.

Armed with her wit, as sharp as the crease she could iron in a pair of pants, Doris moved back to Minneapolis in 1998 to enjoy retirement and begin the second phase of God's assignment for her life. She was happiest when cooking for her family and hosting holiday gatherings for those she loved most. In 2013, Doris was called back into motherhood when she adopted Harmoniey, Scotty and Dae'Lyn, giving her new life and purpose.

Proud to have been apart of five living generations, Doris blessed many with her loving spirit and giving heart. She leaves her memory to be cherished by her children: Claudia, Tammy, Kimberly (Shane), Charles (Natalie), Tyrone (Michelle), Harmoniey, Scotty and Dae'Lyn; her siblings, along with over 30 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles Cotton.

The Sacred Farewell to Mother Doris will be shared on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the most holy sanctuary of The Antioch Temple of Hope,  500 West Broadway Avenue.  Dr. Marlon J. Coleman, Pastor, will officiate and Evangelist Gregory Fields will give the Eulogy.

Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.

You may visit her as she slumbers in peaceful repose at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
