IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doris
Marshall
May 10, 1955 – November 23, 2025
Doris Ann Marshall, a woman whose life was a testament to faith, service, and profound love, was called home to rest early Sunday morning, November 23, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 70 years old.
Born on May 10, 1955, to the late Willie B. and Videla Evans, Doris was raised with a strong foundation of love and wisdom on Hartford Street in the southside of Muskogee. It was there that her compassionate spirit was first nurtured by a close-knit community of neighbors and friends.
Doris accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the tutelage of Rev. James McDaniel. It was in that sacred space that she discovered her divine gifts: a beautiful, strong singing voice and a natural talent for playing the piano. These talents were not for her own glory but were dedicated entirely to the Lord's service throughout her life. She graduated from Carter G. Woodson High School in Tullahassee with the class of 1973, having also attended Manual Training High School.
Doris was a lifelong servant, always ready to lend her musical gifts wherever they were needed— whether for church services, weddings, funerals, or community musicals, even as recently as a couple of weeks ago. She played the piano and ministered in music for numerous churches, including Union Baptist, Wagoner; Mt. Zion Baptist Church; St. John Baptist Church, Gibson Station; Fountain Baptist Church; and many others throughout the community.
Professionally, Doris extended her servant heart to others, working over the years at Bios, MARC, and most recently at Incor. She poured herself into her work; her patients cherished her and often considered her part of their family. To many, she was far more than an employee; she was a maternal figure. Doris possessed a vibrant personality that effortlessly lit up any room. In a single breath, she could offer maternal guidance, evoke laughter with her infectious smile and sharp sense of humor, or tell you exactly how things were going to be—always rooted in love and wisdom.
Family was the epicenter of Doris's world. She poured everything she had into her children, grandchildren, and her "baby," her loving husband Charles. Doris leaves behind a legacy of selfless love and cherished memories.
She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 28 years, Charles Marshall, of the home; her son, Vernon Evans (Shalonda); her daughter, LaChauna Adams; and her bonus children: Charlotte Nails (Rodney), Charles Marshall Jr., Chris Marshall (Joanna), Cherhonda Butler (Raisher), and Charo Brown (Keith). She was a beloved grandmother to six grandchildren, Briauna Jackson, Devion Williams, Vernecia Evans, Mylauna McHenry, Robert Doxey, and Ken'Nasha Curry; nine bonus grandchildren, Cristal, C. J., Chela, Chante, Jamal, Christian, Skylar, R. J., and Riashaun; and 38 greatgrandchildren. Doris is also survived by a special sisterinlaw, Charlene Evans; special nephews, James Earl, Charles, and William T.; special cousin, Angela Jackson; special friends Cynthia Webber, LaCreta (Lynn) Reed, Belynda Clayton, Tina Patterson, Sheretta WhiteFolks, and Debbie Page; along with a host of extended nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she loved dearly.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Willie B. and Videla; her son, Brandon Jermaine ("BJ"); her brother, James Earl; and her great- grandson, Josiah Murphy. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her song, her spirit, and the love she shared will resonate in the hearts of those she touched forever.
The Sacred Hour for Mrs. Marshall will commence on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the Tenth Hour in the most holy sanctuary of Antioch Temple of Hope Church, where Pastor Marlon Coleman is the Gracious Host and will Officiate and her Pastor William Brown will render the Eulogy.
The Christian Committal will immediately follow the services in the Sandtown Cemetery in Wagoner County, Oklahoma.
