Obituary

Ms. Dorothy J. Johnson, after, 72 years, was "Escorted to Glory by Angels" on Tuesday morning, October 23, 2018 from Oklahoma City.
Dorothy Jean Johnson was born April 12, 1946 to Homer Johnson and Hattie Mae Gay in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was raised by Delancy and Hattie Mae Gay-Hudspeth. Dorothy attended elementary, junior high and high school in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma graduating from Fredrick Douglass High School in 1965. During her high school years she was a very active member of the Future Homemakers of America (FHA).
Dorothy had one loving daughter Shelia Wiley Cooper, who was married to Dr. Lee E. Cooper Jr. To this union two sons were born Lee E. Cooper III and Derrick P. Cooper, who affectionately refer to Dorothy as "Nana".
Dorothy was an active and faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma until her health begin to fail. Often times she attended the Prospect Baptist Church under the leadership of her son-in-law Dr. Lee E. Cooper Jr. and her daughter, First Lady Shelia Wiley Cooper.
Dorothy worked at Rothschild's Clothing as a seamstress until it's closing.  Mr. Robert W. Clark, owner of Rothschild's considered Dorothy as one of his most valued employees. When she completed her alterations, everything was perfect. Later she worked at Oklahoma State Health Department until her health declined.
Dorothy loved sitting on her porch and talking to people. She was known in her community as the "Neighborhood Porch Lady".
Dorothy is greeted at Heaven's Gates by her parents, Delancy and Hattie Mae Hudspeth and her loving daughter, Shelia Wiley Cooper.

She leaves to cherish her memory; two grandsons, Lee E. Cooper III and Derrick P. Cooper; one great-granddaughter, Leiah Wiley Cooper; one son-in-law, Dr. Lee E. Cooper Jr. (Katherine); one sister, Patrisha Patrick (Travis); four nephews, Reginald, Tremayne, James, Travis Jr.; special friend, James Shortridge Sr.; and a host of family and friends.

The sacred farewell to Sister Johnson will commence on Tuesday morning, October 30, 2018, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM in the most holy sanctuary of the Prospect Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.  The final tributes will commence at 11:00 AM, with Reverend K. Gerone Free, Pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church presiding, and Reverend Lee E. Cooper, Jr., Pastor of Prospect Baptist Church, delivering the Eulogy.

Friends are kindly asked to assemble in the sanctuary by 10:50 AM to receive the family at 11:00 AM.  Following the service and a brief lunch, the Christian Committal will follow in the sacred grounds of the Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Spencer, Oklahoma.
