On August 26, 1946, a beautiful baby girl was born into this world to Seaver and Grace Fields, who they would name Dorothy Jean (Bootsie).
She was the 8th of 11 children. Dorothy was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She would receive her education in the Muskogee Public Schools.
Dorothy worked as a Psychiatric Tech in Portland, Oregon for a number of years prior to her retirement.
Mrs. Dorothy Jean Mathews, after 75 years with us, passed from this life on Sunday morning, April 10, 2022 in Muskogee.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Melton Mathews; her children, Canton (Heather) Keys of Denver, Alethea (Vincent) Bowen of Denver, Angela Keys of Denver and Jonathan (Alicia) Jones of Vancouver, Washington; 18 Grandchildren, 1 Great- Grandchild; sisters, Sarah Bolding, Jeanette Brown, Blanche Fields and Mary Brown; one brother Raymond Wright; sister-in-laws, Stella Fields and Shirley Fields and one brother-in-law John Brown.
A Graveside Ceremony paying tribute to Mrs. Mathews will commence on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Eleventh Hour in the Fields Cemetery in Porum, Oklahoma.
