Obituary

"Her Story…"
A loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Dorothy Lois Murdock arrived in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on August 10, 1939 from the union of Dallas James and Anna Belle {Reagor} Murdock, Sr. Dorothy was baptized at an early age at Lone Tree Baptist Church. She later joined the Eastside Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board.

She grew up in Okmulgee, where she graduated on May 27th from Historic Dunbar High School Class of 1958. Dorothy furthered her education, earning a Culinary Arts Degree from Oklahoma State Tech and a Certified Nurse Aide/Medication Aide with the state of Oklahoma. Dorothy met and married Isaiah "Sarge" Shepherd on October 24, 1975 in Okmulgee. Their home was a Therapeutic Foster Care Facility that housed many children for over 12 years. They continued to provide respite housing to assist other foster families.

Dorothy was affectionately called "DahDah" by all who knew and loved her. She worked at Ball Brothers Corporation, Highland Park and Rebold Manor in Okmulgee. She retired from Miami Terrace Nursing Home after many years of service.

On April 25, 2023, Dorothy "closed her eyes on earth, but woke up in Glory" from St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters - Eva Reagor, Mattie Lee Murdock Ellis, Bertha Murdock Syas; brothers - Richard Murdock, Johnny Murdock, Dallas "Boots" Murdock, Jr., Alfred Murdock and Rayford "Foxy" Reagor.

Her loving family that she leaves in God's care; her children, Darral (Eileen) Murdock, Broken Arrow, Sharron (Barney) Barnes, Okmulgee and Lois Ann (Willie) Dixon, Parker, Texas; her adopted children, Antonio (Antoinette) Young, Broken Arrow, Michael Young, Tulsa; her grandchildren, Jason Dixon, Brandon DeVille, Jasmine Dixon Seldon, Gordon Hill, Jr., Corey Hill, Darral Murdock, Jr., Janece Dixon Burns, Jalisa Dixon, twins - Darrias and Dy-mon Murdock. Great grandchildren: Braydon, Kierra, Braylie and Kyra DeVille; Tyler and Ava Murdock; Tylin and Tyson Seldon; Jace and Jaxon Dixon; Jordon and Kobe Hill; Antoine, Antonio, Antavious, Aniyah and Akeem Young. She is also survived by her only sister Anna Lois Marie Craig. One niece Robin Syas Little, three nephews – Willard Lance Murdock, Joe L. Syas, Jr., and Andre' Craig. Special friends Irma Jean Tuggle and Vera Bowie Fultz and a host of other relatives and many friends.

The Sacred Farewell for Mrs. Shepherd will commence on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Eleventh Hour in the most holy sanctuary of Eastside Baptist Church in Okmulgee.

You may visit Dorothy as she slumbers in sweet repose in The Chapel of Peace of Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc.,-Okmulgee on Friday, May 5, 2022, from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM

The Christian Committal will immediately follow the services in the Okmulgee Cemetery in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
