Obituary

It all began in the settlement of Clarksville in Wagoner County, Oklahoma, when a baby girl arrived on November 13, 1962 from the union of Thomas and Gladys [Simmons] Turner, Sr. They named this precious daughter Dorothy Ann.


Dorothy attended Porter Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1981. After completing high school, she worked as a substitute teacher in the Tulsa Public School District. After that work, she worked at David L. Moss Correctional Facility and later in life, as a home healthcare provider until she became ill.


Better known as "Ann," she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and family. she never met a stranger and she would talk to anyone who would listen.


She closed her eyes here on Earth for the last time on Sunday, December 11, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Nellie Boxsley and Eva Hill; two brothers-in-law, Theodore Hill, Sr., and Jimmie Carter; two nephews, Leonard Turner and Theodore Hill, Jr.


She leaves to cherish her memory; her children, Kevin Turner and LaSayan [Larry] Turner, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Linda Carter and Florence [Lawrence] Turner, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma; two brothers, Thomas [Paulette] Turner, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Chauncy [Joyce] Scott, Muskogee, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Corejon Ballard, Jr., Imani Ballard, Jazmionna Turner, Kevin Turner, Jr., Kevontae Turner and Sham'brai Carter, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; an Aunt, Elmira Rothschild, Oakland, California; a God-daughter, Lisa [Adrian] Richardson, Muskogee, Oklahoma; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Tribute will be on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. The Pastor, Reverend Vanzelen G. Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in the Clarksville Cemetery in Wagoner County.
