Obituary

Dorothy Mae Wooden , 84 of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday November 1, 2014. Dorothy was born on November 15, 1927 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Elijah McBrier and Ethel Haywood McBrier.

She was raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma and attended Muskogee public schools, graduating from Manual Training High School in 1948. Following high school she attended Langston University.

Dorothy worked for the city of Muskogee as a clerk/typist in the employment office as well as for Taft Hospital. Dorothy was baptized in New Zion Baptist Church where in earlier years she was an active member. She later attended St. Paul Baptist Church and New Life Ministries Church.

Dorothy enjoyed traveling, sports, watching movies and was an avid reader. She loved spending time with her children, brother, grand and great-grand children and many cousins. She was a sweet and encouraging person. She will be truly missed by all her loved ones.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Elijah McBrier and Ethel Haywood McBrier and son William K. Wooden. She is lovingly survived by devoted and committed brother Milton J. McBrier, cousin Leroy Anderson, Jr and step-sister Ella Thomas; sons Anthony K. Wooden (Jacqueline), of Muskogee, Milton J.
Wooden (Carolyn) of Aurora, Colorado, Linda Cooke (Gregory) of Clermont, Florida; grandchildren Gregory Cooke, Jr, Kenny Perkins, Naquiya Clarke, Xavier Wooden, Ashton Wooden, Max Cooke, Christopher Cooke, Ashley Wooden and Elijah Wooden; a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

The Sacred Farewell will be rendered on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the most Holy sanctuary of the New Life Ministries of Taft, Pastor Michael Gaulden, Sr., Pastor of New Life Ministries, Officiating and Reverend Anthony Wooden, Eulogist.

The Christian Committal will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.
