Obituary

Mrs. Dorris Lautrice Spigner Clemons-Morrison was born November 8, 1923 in Pickton, Texas to Henry A. and Ollie E. (Kendrick) Spigner.

She graduated from Quitman High School in Quitman, Texas.
She confessed a hope in Christ at a young age and was baptized. She faithfully sung with her sisters following their father as he preached the word of God.

Sis. Morrison throughout her life was very active in the church until her health began to fail. She served faithfully for many years at Ward Chapel AME Church singing in the choir and serving as a faithful missionary. She continued serving as a faithful member of Blackjack Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Roscoe Beasley.

She was a great uplifting soloist who never turned down an opportunity to sing. She will be fondly remembered for her beautiful solo renditions of "Gods Amazing Grace", "Leading Me", and "Last Mile of The Way" and for her immaculate wardrobe beginning with her glamorous hats.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Ira Brown Clemons, Sr. on December 7, 1944. Five children were born to their union. They were separated by his death on February 27, 1990. In 2001, she joined with the late Reverend Frank R. Morrison in Holy Matrimony October 13, 2001. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2011.

On Sunday, December 7, 2014, at approximately 10:45 a.m., she completed the last mile of her journey here on earth and was called from labor to rest.

In addition to her parents, Henry A. and Ollie Spigner, and spouses, Ira Brown Clemons, Sr. and Frank R. Morrison, she was preceded in death by her son, Ira Brown Clemons, Jr. and her siblings: Joe L., Wallace, Fred, Claudis and Bill Spigner and Louise Spigner, Willie Mae White, Vester Huddleston, and Flossie Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memory: children, Rance D. Clemmons (Gwen) of Garland, Texas, Dorris Patillar of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Donald Ray Clemons (Tania) of Katy, Texas, and Henry A. Clemons (Jean) of Lexington, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, and many sorrowing friends who mourn her demise.
